MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee VA Medical Center is hosting additional walk-in clinics for COVID-19 vaccinations, for veterans 65 years or older who receive care at the center or its community clinics.

The walk-in clinics are set to be open 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. this Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday. No appointment is necessary, but veterans must return for their second dose within three weeks.

The center hopes to administer 500 doses each day.

Veterans who have scheduled an appointment for a vaccine at the center should keep their appointment and not attend the walk-in event, according to a release.

The center says this will be the final walk-in clinic for the "foreseeable future."

The VA Medical Center first announced efforts to vaccinate veterans last Wednesday.
