Milwaukee German Immersion School is paying tribute to one of their 5-year-old students who was fatally shot over the weekend.
Jamal Anderson Jr. was killed around 1:15 a.m. Saturday at the Mayfair Apartments near Lovers Lane Road and Silver Spring Avenue.
"We remember Jamal for his friendliness, his warm smile, and his love for music," said the school in a Facebook post. "Jamal will be missed by everyone at MGIS who had the pleasure of knowing him."
The school made a tribute to Jamal with a message on the sign outside their school that reads, "Jamal, you and your family are in our thoughts & hearts."
They also put out a message for all the students in the school to wear Jamal's favorite color, yellow, on Thursday in his honor.
The exact circumstances leading to Jamal's tragic death are not known at this time, but Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales said Monday that Jamal's father is in custody in relation to the shooting death.
