Milwaukee was named one of the top 10 Hygge cities because of its cozy weather and Hygge pastimes including card games, cooking, knitting and needlework.

Hygge is a Danish concept of creating comfortable environments that foster well-being and contentment. Hygge's most common attributes include relaxing in front of a fireplace, sipping on a warming beverage, hanging out with family and friends, and the liberal use of candles, blankets and comfort food.

Seattle was the top Hygge city, followed by Portland, Oregon; Minneapolis; Salt Lake City; Denver; Rochester, New York; Hartford, Connecticut; Boston; Cleveland; and Milwaukee.

Seattle earned the best mark based on its top scores in reading books, knitting/needlework, and cafes/coffee shops/tea houses. It also has a high percentage of homes with a fireplace.

America's least Hygge cities in the poll included Tucson, Arizona; San Antonio; Miami; Riverside, California; and Los Angeles.
