MILWAUKEE -- Out the 182 cities studied by Wallethub.com, Milwaukee was ranked the 132 safest city in the United States.
According to the study, there were 39 key indicators studied, including assaults per capita, unemployment rate, home and safety rank, natural disaster risk and more, in order to determine each city's safety margin.
Milwaukee's lowest score came in the home and safety rank, at 140 out of 182. It also ranks 52 in natural disaster risk and 123 in financial safety.
On a positive note, Milwaukee ranks top 5 in fewest hate crimes per capita.
Chicago came in right behind Milwaukee, ranking at 133, while the safest city in the U.S. was given to Columbia, Maryland.
