Many people have lost their smartphone and lamented the fact that they hadn’t turned on the app that helps locate it.

Thankfully, a Milwaukee woman had hers turned on and police say it was instrumental in finding the men that robbed her.

Police say the 30-year-old woman was robbed shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of W. Lapham Boulevard when a man approached her, put an object in her back and demanded her belongings.

The man stole the victim’s cell phone and two pieces of jewelry.

Officers used the “Where’s My Droid” app and were directed to the 1700 block of W. National Avenue where they found the suspect in possession of the cell phone and jewelry, as well as a BB gun.

The 41-year-old man, a convicted felon, was arrested and will likely face armed robbery charges.
