A woman was taken to a local hospital after Milwaukee Police said she jumped out of a car in Oak Creek about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The incident was connected to a call MPD received for an abduction near 40th and Chambers about 2:30 a.m.

People who live near that intersection were surprised to hear why cops were there.

"I am glad it’s not a child, but it’s just sad because it shouldn’t be that way," said Samantha Winslow, who lives nearby.

Authorities said the 36-year-old woman jumped out of the car near Drexel and South 13th Street. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office took a person of interest into custody nearby.

TODAY'S TMJ4's camera captured a gold minivan being towed from the scene, but police have not confirmed it is the vehicle involved in the possible abduction.

The woman's condition has not been released. It is not clear what prompted the incident. Milwaukee Police said they are continuing to investigate.
