MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police have released a video detailing the events that led to a fatal officer-involved shooting on May 5.

Police were called to the Walgreens near 27th and North Avenue on May 5 for reports of a 51-year-old man who shot and killed 48-year-old Cathy King at the store. King worked at the store and was believed to be in a relationship with the suspect at the time.

The video is part of a Community Briefing series designed to create transparency within the police department. It is specifically meant to give more context to officer-involved shootings.

In the video, you can see how the events played out once the cops arrived on the scene.

Police said the man fired shots at them and they fired back, striking him. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive.

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures on the victim, however, she was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
