MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police released pictures of evidence seized in an illegal THC operation uncovered at a south side home.

Pictures depicted bundles of cash in gray plastic bins, bags stuffed with marijuana, and THC vape cartridges with labels like "King Pen" and "Exotic Carts."

Police credited concerned citizens who alerted them to suspicious activity at the house on Norwich Court near 51st and Howard.

"There were concerned citizens in the area that saw things that were unusual. Saw a lot of activity, saw a lot of cars and people that weren't familiar to them," said Captain Kristin Riestra, with Milwaukee Police.

MPD said the evidence recovered included more than $935,000 in cash, more than 13,5000 illegal THC vape oil cartridges, a firearm, and just under 18 pounds of marijuana.

"That evidence is being processed now to determine if there's any linkages to other cases within the region or if there are any other parties involved," said Milwaukee Police Captain Cassandra Libal.

Govanny Molina and Amanda Ware were arrested and charged. Police said details about what the operation entailed are still under investigation.

In light of the bust and a growing number of severe lung disease cases and deaths, Milwaukee's Health Commissioner doubled down on her call to put down the vape.

"We need to continue to hold the line as we investigate some of these products that are in the market. Products that are unregulated, products that may contain THC, as you know marijuana is not legal here in the state of Wisconsin, and products that contain nicotine," said Kowalik.

As police continue to investigate, questions remain including where the illegal cartridges were sold.
