MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place near 35th and Scott about 11 Thursday morning.

Police say the victim was meeting the suspect to sell a video game when he was robbed at gunpoint.

When the victim attempted to leave the scene in his vehicle, the suspect fired multiple shots at his car, causing it to crash into a parked vehicle.

"The shots shook my house," said Dale Hinz, who lives nearby. "There were like seven of them. Right into the car. It's a miracle no one was hurt. It was so loud. Pow, pow, pow."

The neighborhood is full of children playing. We spoke to one 10-year-old boy, who asked to share a message.

"I don't want to see this in my neighborhood at all," said LeAndre Strawder. "It's wrong. I want everybody to be safe and no violence. The people doing this shouldn't be doing it. They should stop it."

Officers have closed Scott Street between 35th and 37th streets while they investigate the circumstances of what occurred.

Police are actively searching for the suspect, according to authorities. No one was injured.
