Convicted felon sells firearms to undercover detectives

A man has been charged after selling firearms to undercover detectives on two occasions.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office conducted a five-month investigation on Damond Martin, 28, who is a convicted felon and documented street gang member.

Martin sold an undercover detective a semi-automatic firearm with an obliterated serial number in November of 2018. He sold another undercover detective a MAC-11 semi-automatic firearm in April of 2019. Both sales occurred in Waukegan, Ill.

Martin was arrested on August 2 after detectives obtained an arrest warrant, and formally charged on Wednesday,

He is charged with four counts of armed habitual criminal, six counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one count of unlawful delivery of a firearm and two counts of unlawful delivery of a firearm - class 4 felonies.

Martin is being held on $100,000,000 bail and is due in court on Thursday.
