Milwaukee police investigate hit-and-run that left one dead, two injured

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run that left one dead and three injured Saturday.

Police say the incident occurred around 10:23 p.m. in the 2400 block of W. Center Street. A vehicle was speeding in the area when it hit another vehicle, causing that vehicle to hit a pedestrian and a building.

Following the collision, the occupants in the striking vehicle ran off on foot and their vehicle caught fire.

Police say the pedestrian struck suffered deadly injuries and was a woman who appeared to be in her 30s.

The driver of the vehicle struck, a 40-year-old woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and her passenger, a 19-year-old man from Milwaukee, sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
