MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a car accident that left one dead Thursday morning.

Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 2:08 a.m. in the 3400 block of North 27th St.

The suspect vehicle had been reported as stolen and was used in an armed robbery.

Officers turned on their lights and sirens to get the vehicle to stop. However, the driver refused to pull over and led MPD officers on a police chase.

During the pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a pole. The driver, a 17-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Two other passengers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old female.

The two passengers were then taken into custody.

Milwaukee police are still investigating the incident and charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
