MILWAUKEE -- If you look back at what you were able to do by age 18, you might remember some trophies and applying for college.

18 -year-old Zeynab Ali has already published her own book. It's about her family's plight as Somalian refugees.

Ali was born in a refugee camp in Kenya, after her parents fled from their home country. She came to America when she was just six years old.

Now a senior at Rufus King High School, she's proud to share the book about her family's plight to finally get to America.

She wants to be an activist for refugees, especially after President Donald Trump's recent travel ban, which includes Somalia.

"I'm just very frustrated about the whole situation," said Ali. "What makes America is all the immigrants coming in from different parts of the world."

Zeynab's book is called "Cataclysm: Secrets of the Horn of Africa."

She is also part of Mayor Tom Barrett's Violence Prevention Program. She hopes to go to UW-Madison and become a successful software engineer.
