A Milwaukee Fire Captain has been charged with stalking and strangling his girlfriend. Leon Butts made his first appearance in court Saturday.
Butts' girlfriend told police she came forward with these allegations because she was afraid for her life. The judge calls these serious allegations. The victim claims Butts tried to suffocate her on three different occasions.
Butts is charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors. This is a man who has served 25 years with the Milwaukee Fire Department with no prior arrests.
Butts remains in jail on $10,000 cash bond. He is due back in court on Friday.
