MILWAUKEE — The current Chairman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, Theo Lipscomb, has announced his candidacy for Milwaukee County Executive.

"In the discussions I’ve had with countless family, friends and neighbors over the last few weeks, I have been encouraged to step-up once again and continue my work of fighting for Milwaukee County," said Lipscomb.

This news comes almost a month after current Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced he was not seeking reelection.

Lipscomb was first elected to the County Board in 2008 and is currently serving his fourth term. He represents the first district which consists of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills, and aportion of the northeast side of Milwaukee.

In a press release, Lipscomb stated, "Together, as a community, we must work to establish a stronger transit system, maintain open and accessible parks, and increase public safety for all in Milwaukee County."

Lipscomb said these solutions won't come quickly or easily, but it'll take an effective and efficient leader to make it happen.

"I promise to always work to improve the quality of life for everyone, in every city and village in Milwaukee County," said Lipscomb. "Today, I announce my candidacy and hope to earn your support and your vote!"

The election for Milwaukee County Executive will be in November 2020.
