The MCTS driver who rescued a baby on a freeway overpass in December is being recognized again.

On Friday, Irena Ivic was given a "Life Saving Medal" from service work group Sons of the American Revolution.

"Irena might say she did what any caring person would do," said Bill Austin from the Wiscosnin Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. "But she had the presence of mind, saw the danger and knew what to do."

Ivic spotted the child alone and wearing nothing but a onesie and diaper while driving her route on Dec. 22. She then stopped the bus and carried the child to safety on board the bus.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele, the Milwaukee Common Council and the Milwaukee Bucks have all recognized Ivic for her good deed.
