The Milwaukee Country Transit System and the Hop in Milwaukee are suspending service until Friday morning for safety concerns relating to the George Floyd Protests.

Just before 4 p.m. an emergency alert was issued about the halt in service.

"The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) will temporarily suspend all bus service starting at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th after experiencing significant service disruptions in the past six days," a press release from MCTS said.

MCTS said bus routes will resume normal operations in the morning. Service will also be suspended Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights with it picking back up the next morning.

MCTS said that protests have blocked routes and made it hard for buses to safely navigate around the large crowds of people.

Plus, for the second time in a row, the Hop is stopping its service in Milwaukee for similar reasons, their Twitter account said.

All Hop routes will be halted from 2 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday.
