WAUWATOSA — Mayfair Mall closed their doors Saturday as a safety precaution for shoppers.
Lindsey Kahn, spokesperson for Mayfair Mall, said they closed as a safety precaution for the entire shopping community.
The closure comes after police arrested around 50 people in connection to the protests.
According to Milwaukee police, the protests began as peaceful and turned violent around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Milwaukee police said that people used the protesting opportunity to damage property, destroy businesses and more.
The department is working to identify additional suspects.
One police officer was shot, however, he sustained non life-threatening injuries. The police department is asking that if you choose to protest, you do it peacefully.
