MILWAUKEE — On Thursday, Marquette University announced that no fans would be allowed at men's basketball home games in 2020.

The plan for no fans will go through the end of 2020. Marquette Athletics will continue to evaluate spectator options as the season goes on. The department said in a release Thursday that if ticket opportunities become available, they will be sold on a single-game basis.

The news comes as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take a toll on Wisconsin.

"Unfortunately, given the current conditions relative to the pandemic, and after evaluating various scenarios, we have reached the conclusion that we will not be able to accommodate season tickets for the 2020-21 men's and women's basketball seasons," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Bill Scholl.

Season ticket holders will be contacted about donation and refund options.
