ALGOMA — Officials in Kewaunee Country are advising residents to use caution when utilizing their drinking water after a manure spill took place in the area.

The Kewaunee Department of Emergency Management announced the precautionary measure after manure was spilled into a ditch near County Highway P and Pheasant Road in Algoma.

"Please use caution when using your drinking water," a post on Facebook says.

The property owners are currently cleaning up the manure, according to the Wisconsin DNR, and the agency continues to assess the impact of the situation.

It's unclear how long the Drinking Water Advisory will be in effect.
