MILWAUKEE — A 30-year-old man was shot in the 2500 block of West Monroe Street in Milwaukee Friday evening, one block away from the protests over George Floyd's death, Milwaukee Police said.

Officials said that the shooting was not related to the protest, but rather a fight near the protest.

The man sustained serious injuries and was brought to a local hospital. He is now in stable condition, according to police.

The identity of Friday's shooting victim has not been released. MPD does not have any suspects either.

Hundreds showed up at 27th and Center to protest the death of Floyd who was killed by a Minneapolis Police Officer earlier in the week.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360.
