Racine police are looking for a suspect after a man was shot multiple times early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 1:45 a.m. near 12th and Villa, directly across the street from St. Catherine's High School.
Police say the victim was rushed to Froedtert with life-threatening injuries after he was shot by an unknown intruder inside his home.
Tanya Saey lives in the neighborhood.
"Police woke me up at 2 a.m. They were knocking on my door, asking me did I hear any gunshots. It's crazy. I don't know, it's crazy. We're right across the street from the school. It's not right," Saey said.
Shaniqua Griffith, who also lives in the area, has two kids, one who plays football at St. Catherine's High School.
"Kids are walking to school in the a.m. I don't think that is something they should have to be alert about at this age," Griffith said. "As far as my son, he walks to football practice alone. He rides his bike sometimes. I'll probably try to walk with him or make sure he gets there safely because anything can happen."
School officials say they are staying in touch with Racine police, but right now school was scheduled to operate as normal.
Racine police said no arrests have been made.
