MILWAUKEE — Reckless behavior on Milwaukee roads, causes another senseless injury. This time, a driver is shot in the arm, after simply honking his horn at another.

It happened around 12:15 a.m. Thursday near 50th and Center Streets.

Investigators say a 36-year-old driver came upon a car blocking the roadway. The driver of that car was standing outside of it, talking to somebody. When the 36-year-old honked his horn, the driver standing outside pulled out a gun and shot him.

The shooting victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are still looking for the shooter. MPD officers have been scouring surveillance video from nearby businesses.

"You don’t know what these people are on, or what they got," said Jalisa Martin, who lives nearby. "It's just ridiculous. I'm scared for me and my kids when we walk down Center Street. You have to be so careful these days."

While trying to get more information on this shooting, we met Dewanda Wright who told us she had quite the scare Thursday morning.

"I was at a red light that switched to green, but the SUV in front of me didn't start moving, so I gave a little honk," she described. "That's when I see the driver lift up a gun through the sunroof window and wave it around. I immediately dialed 911. I was scared. I didn't know what they would do."

She says it's a sad reality when you're left fearing for your life, after simply honking.

"After all this, I really will think twice before honking, because I want to live," she said. "I want to go to work, and come home to my grandchildren and daughter. It's that simple."
