Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a head-on collision near Highway 33 and Riesch Road that killed a 43-year-old Jackson man and injured a passenger.
Police say that a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 33 when it collided with another vehicle traveling westbound.
The driver of the first vehicle was confirmed dead upon West Bend Rescue's arrival.
A passenger of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital and treated for leg and back injuries.
According to the WCSO, this is Washington County's first traffic fatality in 2019.
