DELAVAN — An Elkhorn man has been arrested on multiple charges of mistreating and abandoning animals after two dogs were found in a Delavan Walmart parking lot on Thanksgiving.

Delavan police were called to the Walmart on E. Geneva St around 5:30 on Thursday, Nov. 28 to a report of two extremely malnourished dogs on the loose in the parking lot who were shaking from the cold.

A Facebook tip was able to locate the owner of the dogs, Jeffrey Freund, who admitted to leaving his two dogs, Dexter and Blackberry, in the parking lot.

The Walworth County District Attorney charged Freund with mistreatment of animals, failing to provide sufficient food and intentionally abandoning animals.
