MILWAUKEE — A man has been charged for the dangerous hit-and-run that took place on Christmas Day, critically injuring a 58-year-old MCTS bus driver.

Romeal M. Oquin has been charged with one count of vehicle operator flee and one count of hit-and-run causing great bodily harm.

Oquin was seen by Sgt. Jason Metoxen running multiple red lights at a high rate of speed. After Metoxen put on his emergency lights, Oquin reportedly continued to speed away.

After Oquin allegedly struck the 58-year-old on South Kinnickinnic Avenue, he got out and ran.

The MCTS bus driver suffered two punctured lungs, multiple rib fractures, a head injury and internal bleeding on his drive home for Christmas.

The extent of his injuries and quality of life remain unknown.
