MILWAUKEE- A convicted felon is now charged with shooting a man in the chest and then later taking a gun to Potawatomi Casino and firing it there.  Police say Terrill Thomas fired shots in the high roller room early Friday morning.

"I can't believe it.  I can't believe he did that.  I can't believe Terrill did that," said Celia Thomas, the accused shooter's mother.

The last time Celia Thomas saw her son was through her front window.  This was before he went to the casino.

"I seen Terrill come out with the gun like that and started shooting," she said.

She says the person Thomas shot outside her house on North 36th Street was a family friend.  Celia Thomas was worried her son was about to have a mental breakdown and claims she told police.

"We cannot arrest your son until your son do something.  I said what do you want him to do, kill somebody," explained Celia Thomas.

Milwaukee Police aren't aware of this specific conversation with the man's mother.

No one was shot at the casino, but several people were hurt as they tried to run away.

The criminal complaint says Thomas dropped his fun in a garbage can and laid on the ground at the casino when police confronted him.

Thomas is also accused of stealing almost $5,000 worth of gaming chips.
