The man accused of killing a father and daughter by smashing into the back of their sedan last month has been bound over for trial.
Now out of the Racine County Jail and appearing in street clothes, Levi Ruohonen, 25, waived a preliminary hearing on Wednesday morning before entering three not-guilty pleas.
He's charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle while having a prior intoxicant-related conviction or revocation, and one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing injury.
If convicted, the latter would be Ruohonen's second and subsequent OWI and causing injury offense.
According to a criminal complaint, police allege Ruohonen was speeding on Four Mile Road, in the Village of Caledonia, when he rear-ended a sedan occupied by 39-year old Kevin Dalley and his family.
Dalley and his 9-year old daughter, Emily, died in the crash.
A second daughter, who is 6, survived.
Ruohonen is due back in court January 27.
