Brendan Dassey’s case will go before the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit after a panel of judges from the court agreed with another federal judge’s ruling that his conviction be overturned.

Dassey was one of the subjects of the Netflix docudrama “Making a Murderer, ” accused of killing Teresa Halbach. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2007.

A judge ruled Dassey’s confession was coerced by law enforcement, and his attorneys have motioned for his release. However, the Department of Justice filed its own motions to keep him incarcerated, and Dassey has remained behind bars.

On Friday, Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel said in a news release that the case will be heard by the entire court, starting Sept. 26.
