Voters locally have all kinds of opinions regarding what President-elect Donald Trump’s top priorities in office should be.

Trump’s inauguration is Friday.

“I hope they look at getting high quality jobs for everyone,” said Larry Ploetz, of Waukesha, about the incoming administration.
Ploetz said he also wants more affordable healthcare options.

“Make it actually affordable,” Ploetz said. “If it’s an increase in taxes that’s needed, then let’s be honest, up front about it, increase taxes and go forward.”

Stephanie Farris also said healthcare is an important issue. She said people who fall on hard times should have access to better coverage options.

“It’s really important for people who don’t have full-time jobs,” Farris said. “For a while I didn’t, so getting healthcare was really important for me.”

Robert Druhn said he hopes Trump delivers on previous pledges to secure America’s borders.

“I’m concerned about the borders," Druhn said. "They’re way too open right now and they’ve got to be secured."
Mike Radtke, of Milwaukee, said he thinks Trump’s first priority should be outreach to people worried about his tough stance on illegal immigration.

“Look at you. Look at me,” Radtke said. “We’re all immigrants. That’s the big picture.”

Julie Huttner, of Waukesha, said Trump’s first job in office should be working towards unifying a polarized electorate.

“If we all come together as a country, and work together for the common good, a lot of the other issues will sort themselves out,” Huttner said.
