A high school sophomore was injured and flown to the hospital Monday night following a football game in Kenosha County.
According to the principal at Martin Luther High School in Greendale, one of their junior varsity players received a neck injury during a game against Shoreland Lutheran in Somers.
The injury happened after the player made a tackle at the end of the third quarter.
He lost feeling initially in his extremities but as of Tuesday morning, had started to regain feeling again and was awaiting the results of an MRI.
"Please pray for [the student] as he recovers and his family as they walk through this challenging time with their son," the principal wrote in a message to parents on Tuesday.
According to the athletic director with Shoreland Lutheran, an athletic trainer was on the sideline and immediately assessed the player's injuries. 911 was called and an ambulance arrived within a few minutes.
Flight for Life eventually flew the student to Children's Hospital for care.
