Local fire and police departments are expressing sympathy for the departments who each lost officers in the last 24 hours.
The Milwaukee Police Department lost Officer Kou Her in a crash near 60th and Capitol Tuesday morning. The Racine Police Department lost Officer John Hetland in a fatal bar shooting Monday night.
Both officers were off-duty when they were killed.
Sheriff, police and fire departments across southeast Wisconsin are standing in solidarity with Racine and Milwaukee by sharing pictures of the 'thin blue line' that represents the sacrifice law enforcement officers make every day.
Officer Her is the fourth officer the Milwaukee Police Department has lost in the past year.
