La Perla’s old building in Walker’s Point will soon be home to Hamburger Mary’s, according to city records.
The chain, which already has a Milwaukee location in Bay View, plans to relocate and has already applied for a liquor license "change in location," the business publication reported.
Brandon Wright, one of the restaurant's owners told TODAY'S TMJ4 that the Walker's Point location will have a larger space, and is expected to open in September.
As previously reported by TODAY’S TMJ4,the Mexican restaurant La Perla had been a Milwaukee mainstay for 22 years, until closing its doors recently.
The La Perla building was sold to Phoenix Burger LLC, a Milwaukee-based developer who also owns Hamburger Mary’s.
Hamburger Mary’s is known for casual dining with a gay country/western dance bar. Weekly events include karaoke, dance music, bingo, champagne Sunday brunch, and drag shows, according to the company’s website.
