MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating a vehicle pursuit, that ended with a Kia and Milwaukee Police squad car driving into Lincoln Creek on Thursday.

"I saw the police cars going by, and then a friend of mine pulled up, and said the cars was in the creek, and I came out and started recording," Robert Young said.

Young lives near 44th and Congress where the pursuit ended. He's one of many neighbors who heard and saw the police chase turned crash, Thursday.

At 11:16 a.m. police say officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle they say matched the description of a vehicle wanted in connection with an abduction that happened Jan. 10.

Police say the vehicle did not stop, which led to a pursuit, that came to an end when the vehicle lost control and crashed into the creek, just south of W. Congress St., from N. 45th St.

MPD said the officer's squad car slid into the creek, however our crews saw significant damage on the Kia from the squad car hitting it from behind.

"They ran into the creek and the police followed them," Young told TMJ4.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was taken into custody.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. Both were taken to a local hospital.

The officers were not injured.

Young told us that he's concerned about the amount of police chases happening across the city, especially in residential areas.

"If someone's getting pulled over, pull over, don't run, and if the police see a dangerous, high-speed chase, I think they should back off. Get the place number or whatever and back off," Young explained.

Police say a firearm was recovered. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.

TMJ4 has requested body camera and dash camera footage of this incident.
