KENOSHA — The Kenosha Police Department is warning residents about a possible Social Security scam.

People have been receiving calls from someone claiming to be from Social Security who needs more information to increase the person's benefits or that their benefits will be canceled if they do not give them the information, according to a report.

If you receive a call from Social Security, the Kenosha Police Department urges you to be cautious and not to reveal sensitive information over the phone.

While Social Security may call you, it will never threaten you for information.

If you receive these calls, please report the information to the Office of the Inspector General at 1-800-269-0271 or by clicking here.
