The Kenosha Police Department responded to a shots fired complaint Sunday, Jan. 10 around 1216 a.m. on the 4800 block of 20th Ave.

Police say while on scene looking for evidence, an officer witnessed a group of people fire a handgun into the air. When the officer approached the group, they fled into the house after being asked to stay where they were.

Officers say the group refused to cooperate and would not open the door to speak to the police.

The Kenosha County Tactical Response Team authorized a search warrant to responded to the scene to assist.

After police gained entry into the house, the group continued to refuse commands, police say.

Law enforcement used "chemical munitions" to get the group to come out of the home and taken into custody.

Police say multiple firearms were recovered from the home and the person who fired the shot was also taken into custody.

Police do not believe that this incident has any connection to any protest.

The investigation is ongoing.
