Klaus, a six-year-old K9 with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, died suddenly Monday morning.

Klaus served the citizens of Kenosha County for five years.

Deputy John Lanctot and Klaus primarily worked along the I-94 corridor, making hundreds of drug and criminal arrests.

Klaus became ill on November 27 and was brought to an emergency veterinarian where he was diagnosed with internal bleeding and masses on his spleen. The decision to euthanize Klaus was made when tests revealed more masses on his liver.

Thank you for your service, Klaus!
