Sad news to report from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Mink, a K9 with the department, has died.
According to a post on the department's Facebook page, Mink was diagnosed with a tumor and had surgery on Jan. 11. He was going to retire later this year, but never fully recovered.
"Mink and his handler, Deputy Gukich, made an excellent team and we will all miss him as part of our family," the Facebook post read.
Mink was laid to rest on Tuesday.
