'It's Milwaukeeans creating this problem': Chief Morales says only 3 arrests have been from outside City of Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- At a news conference Sunday, Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales appeared to debunk a theory that most people arrested in recent unrest across the country are outside agitators.

"During the last 48 hours, more than 60 arrests have been made. You should know that only 3 of those arrests are from people who live outside the City of Milwaukee," Chief Morales said. "So the destruction that is occurring is from Milwaukee residents."

Morales went on to say that looters were only harming the very communities they lived in.

At the same news conference, Mayor Tom Barrett said that Milwaukee's 9 p.m. curfew would be in effect once again Sunday night. Violation of the curfew can lead to arrest and up to a $691 fine.

About 20 businesses were looted or damaged in unrest overnight Saturday night, Morales said.
