BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Brookfield police released new bodycam video Friday from a high-risk traffic stop earlier this month after a Flock camera flagged the vehicle as connected to a Milwaukee homicide, only to learn Milwaukee police had failed to remove it from the system.
The traffic stop happened Aug. 6. During it, multiple officers pointed guns at the driver, passenger and their vehicle. In the body camera footage, the driver can be heard saying her truck had just been released from evidence.
One of the officers is then heard saying her car was “still entered in the system as being used in a homicide.”

A Milwaukee police spokesperson said the alert was issued because of human error.
“This was not a Flock issue,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added that Milwaukee police staff “inadvertently did not remove a vehicle alert from the system.”
Brookfield Police Chief Christopher Garcia defended the high-risk traffic stop, stating that Brookfield officers “did not stop the ‘wrong’ vehicle” and that they performed their duties “as she would expect them to.”
