MILWAUKEE COUNTY — An accident involving a semi-truck has shutdown northbound lanes on I-94 at Oakwood in Milwaukee County.

The accident happened around 11:30am Friday morning and the interstate might not reopen until Midnight.

A hazmat team is on the scene. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office reports there are no dangers to the public.

A semi driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic is being taken off the freeway at Highway G.

The Highway G on-ramp and 7-mile road on-ramp to go north on I-94 are closed.

The shut down is causing a large back up into Racine County.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office suggest the following alternative routes;

  • Highway 45 (West of I 94)
  • Exit at Highway G, go west to 27th Street (Frontage Road) northbound to Ryan Road, eastbound to I 94
