MADISON -- Severe storms with heavy rain flooded streets and roads in Madison, making some impassible.
The Madison Fire Department says it responded to dozens of calls Thursday night related to the flooding, including stranded motorists and vehicles, downed power lines and other dangerous situations.
Thousands of Madison Gas & Electric customers were without power on a hot, sticky night. Alliant Energy crews were also working to restore service.
Meteorologists say about 2.8 inches of rain was reported at the Dane County Regional Airport Thursday.
