A 54-year old Hales Corners, Wis. man died in Illinois Monday afternoon, the Lake County, Ill. Sheriff's Office tells TODAY'S TMJ4.

The victim, who was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, exited I-94 East at Russell Road and failed to yield to a semi truck, authorities said.

The semi driver, a 50-year-old Mundelein, Ill. man, was was traveling westbound on Russell Road.

"The Chevrolet drove partially underneath the trailer of the Kenworth (semi-truck) and sustained significant damage," officials said.

The Chevrolet driver was transported to Saint Catherine’s Medical Center in Kenosha, Wis. with critical injuries.  He was pronounced deceased shortly upon arrival. The driver of the Kenworth was uninjured, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
