MADISON -- German-based candy maker HARIBO has picked Kenosha County as the site of its first North American manufacturing facility, Governor Scott Walker announced Thursday.

HARIBO is best known for producing the popular "GoldBear" gummy bears sold around the world.

“As a global company with products that are loved by millions, and a legacy that dates back nearly a century, HARIBO is a great fit with the many other iconic companies that already call Wisconsin home," Governor Walker said.

The governor's office says the HARIBO project is one of the largest investments by an overseas company in Wisconsin history. It's expected to be completed in 2020.

HARIBO produces 100 million gummy bears daily worldwide. They employ nearly 7,000 people across the globe.
