MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee's Gee’s Clippers is offering free haircuts to people who register to vote at the barbershop, part of an effort to increase voter registrations among Black men.

The event kicked off on Monday from 2 - 7 p.m.

The event was organized with help from the non-profit When We All Vote, and sponsored by African American Round Table (AART), Bronner Bros., MaCher, NCompass and Vote WI.

The event provides access to tools and information voters might need to participate in the upcoming November election, including how to register, request a mail-in ballot and confirm existing voter status.

Gee’s Clippers is located at 2200 N. Doctor MLK, Jr. Dr. in Milwaukee.

During the 2016 presidential election, African American voter turnout declined for the first time in 20 years, according to Pew Research.
