The first safety ring is now in place near Kenosha’s North Pier after a number of drownings in the area.

Kenosha Alderman Dave Bogdala posted a photo of the life ring on his Facebook page Wednesday.

The City Council unanimously approved installing life ring kiosks earlier this week.

Last month, 17-year-old Donovan Anderson drowned in Lake Michigan after jumping off the pier. The Indian Trail senior had jumped off the pier to take a picture.
