MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Democrat Russ Feingold says he still supports Hillary Clinton even though the FBI is looking into whether there was classified information on a device belonging to the estranged husband of one of her closest aides.

Feingold made the remarks to reporters during a visit to one of his campaign offices in Madison on Friday. Hours earlier the FBI announced it was looking into whether emails uncovered during a sexting investigation of former congressman Anthony Weiner contain classified information. Weiner is the estranged husband of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
Feingold said FBI Director James Comey is a professional and the matter needs to be thoroughly reviewed to the end. He said he still supports Clinton as the only candidate qualified to be president.

Feingold is trying to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson. His office issued a statement Friday praising the FBI's decision to open a probe.
