MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A national Democratic group led by former U.S. Attorney Eric Holder has filed a lawsuit against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for not calling special elections in two vacant legislative districts.

Attorneys for the National Redistricting Foundation filed the lawsuit Monday in Dane County Circuit Court. The lawsuit is asking a judge to order that Walker call special elections in the vacant state Senate and Assembly seats.

Walker has refused Democratic demands to call special elections, saying it would be a waste of money given that the Legislature is nearly done with its work for the year. Instead, the vacancies would be filled at the normal November election.

Both seats were held by Republicans who left to take jobs in Walker's administration.
