Crashes lead to two separate felony OWIs in Racine County

Racine County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested two people for felony OWI Sunday.

The first incident took place around 5:30 p.m. when the Racine County Communications Center received a complaint of a man on a motorcycle who wiped out and was bleeding from his face.

Deputies identified the Wind Lake man and found that he had four previous OWI convictions. Because of that, he has a .02 restriction on his driver's license. He is also not to consume alcohol because he is on probation.

The man performed a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test with a result over 11 times his legal limit of .02. He was arrested for felony operate while intoxicated 5th offense and misdemeanor obstruction.

The Racine County Communications Center received another call around 6:45 p.m. of an accident at the intersection of Milwaukee Ave. and CTH D in the Village of Rochester.

The operators of the the two vehicles involved in the crash were determined to be a Rochester man and a 48-year-old Muskego woman who sustained injuries from the accident.

The man refused to complete standard field sobriety tests and said he was going to fail anyway. The deputy found that the man had three previous OWI convictions as well as a .02 restriction on his driver's license. After doing a preliminary breath test he was found to have a result over 10 times his legal limit of .02.

He was arrested for felony operating while intoxicated 4th offense causing injury and was cited for failure to yield right of way.
