New details from a criminal complaint say a Milwaukee firefighter had thousands of images of child porn on a tablet, and he was downloading them while he was on the job. This was all discovered after the Milwaukee's FBI Child Exploitation Task Force raided a south side fire house.

Robert Rutley had been on the run until his arrest in Montana on February 17. The Milwaukee firefighter was facing child porn charges when he took off. Details have emerged about exactly what lead to those charges after a criminal complaint was released.

The FBI said they raided the fire house 29 at 3529 S. 84th Street two weeks ago. An agent from the task force said they found Rutley sitting in a chair with a tablet computer nearby. In court records, the agents say he "observed thousands of child pornography files" on that device.

The FBI took Rutley in for questioning, but he was not under arrest at that time. Investigators say he told them he started downloading child porn back in 2000. He says he was doing it at home, but switched to doing it at work after "he had been caught by his wife for possessing images of children."

He told investigators he "preferred girls age 10 and older." And that he "often felt guilty for doing so and several times had deleted his collection over the years."

The FBI says the Milwaukee Fire Department cooperated with the raid. Rutley told investigators no one else knew what he was doing.
